== Comparative study on effects of anti-electrostatic discharge (ESD) properties of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) or oxygen-plasma treated graphene nanoplatelets (OGNPs) ,multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on polycarbonate(PC) ==

The superior mechanical, structural and electrical properties of graphene-based materials make them the ideal filler materials for polymer composites reinforcement. Two types of graphene-based materials i.e. graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) and oxygen-plasma treated graphene nanoplatelets (OGNPs), were used as nanofiller in polycarbonate (PC) polymer matrix. The addition of OGNPs into PC substantially enhanced the tensile strength without deteriorating elasticity, compared to GNPs nanocomposites. In addition, the investigation of the thermal properties has found that the presence of OGNPs in the system is very beneficial for improving thermal stability of the PC. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of the OGNPs nanocomposites illustrate homogenous and better uniformity morphology than GNPs nanocomposites. Moreover, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images revealed that the GNPs remained intact as graphene sheet layers and did not disperse well in the polymer matrix, This was also confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) results, which shows slightly intercalated and distributed in the PC matrix.
